I’m Lisa Murphy, a music producer, recording engineer, and mix engineer with over 20 years of experience collaborating with independent artists and labels. My focus is on working with emerging talent and supporting artist development.
I operate out of Blank Studios, where I also serve as Studio Manager, as well as my own studio, Production Room, both based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the Northeast of England.
I’m most inspired when I’m working alongside emerging artists, helping them shape and develop their unique sound. I’m especially passionate about improving the representation of women and gender minorities in the music industry, and much of my portfolio reflects this.
Building strong working relationships with the artists I collaborate with is key to my approach. I believe it’s crucial to understand not only the music but also the vision an artist has for their work. I take time to learn about their songwriting process, lyrics, influences, and sonic goals so I can provide the best possible support — whether through recording, mixing, arranging, or production.
My work with emerging artists extends beyond traditional production services, often involving guidance in artist development when needed by my clients.
You can regularly hear my work on BBC Introducing, BBC Radio 1, BBC 6 Music, Amazing Radio, TV ads, podcasts, independent record labels, and on key playlists on popular streaming platforms.
