A PROJECT SUPPORTING WOMEN WORKING IN MUSIC PRODUCTION IN THE NORTH EAST

To support the development of four north east based aspiring female music producers through mentoring, support and skills delivery in a variety of professional studio environments.
Help to build a portfolio of music production work, real work experience and provide networking opportunities to gain future work in the industry.
Each week you will have…
1 x 4 hour group taught studio session in the studio with a music producer
5 x hours per week individual studio time per project participant to practice your skills in recording and production and work on your projects
Also during the course...
4 x visits to different professional north east recording studios to work on projects and build skills and knowledge. This will include the opportunity to work with session musicians on professional recording tasks.
4 x workshop/guest lecture days with other professional music producers to see how they work and pick their brains about working in the industry
This project is aimed about women who have some prior experience in the use of music technology to create music. This doesn’t need to be extensive, but some prior knowledge will help you to get the best out of the programme and develop higher level skills for the workplace.
What skills should I have?
Understanding and knowledge of the use of a DAW for recording/mixing music
Some prior experience of recording music in any setting, using microphone and DI techniques
To apply to get involved...
You need to be/identify as female and live in the north east of England
Be over 18 years old (for insurance purposes)
This project will be delivered in and around the Newcastle-upon-Tyne area, mainly in a production studio in Heaton (Production Room) and recording studio in the Ouseburn area (Blast Recording Studios). There will also be other studios in the northeast area utilised for visits. Participants need to be able to travel to these areas to take part.
Be available for one day each week to take part in the taught session (this day will be chosen based on the availability on all project participants. It will be a week day).
Be able to undertake an additional weekly 5 hour session at the Heaton based studio to practice your individual skills/ build your portfolio (day to be arranged around your and the studio availability, but it will be the same day each week once arranged).
That’s it! There are no limitations to the funding – so you can apply even if you are currently working/not working/in education etc – as long as you are available to take part and have some prior knowledge and skills in music production, you can apply. So please do!!
